Setting BayanDSL WiFi Router/Modem to Bridge Mode (ZTE VX10 W300S)

BayanDSL supplies an all-in-one WiFi Router/Modem device for at least some of its home DSL subscribers. It is a rebranded ZTE VX10 W300S. Although the built-in WiFi router is adequate, I find that it is a little underpowered and has some dead spots around the house. Additionally, the modem seems to have problems with more than 5 or 6 WiFi clients are online.

This post is a guide to setting the BayanDSL router-modem to bridge mode, to allow the use of a separate WiFi router. I will not be discussing the selection of the separate WiFi router here, that will depend on your specific needs. I also assume that you have enough technical know-how to know why you need bridge mode, how to set a static IP on your PC, and how to setup your WiFi router once the modem is in bridge mode.

You just want to set them all to be owned by you, read-write, but readable by anyone who has an account on your machine.
